Event Recap: Pedaling Through the Red Tape
Jared Fisher hosted and presented to the Green Chamber Of Nevada at the Las Vegas Cyclery this past week for our monthly luncheon. As the owner, environmentalist, former political candidate and rebel in his own right, this was an excellent opportunity to discuss how everyone can make a difference. One of the items Jared discussed was that while there was resistance, and “red tape,” to pedal through, he completed the design because he could.
The result, a unique building with as unique a history. The Las Vegas Cyclery is a LEED Platinum Certified, net-zero energy building, a difficult achievement for anyone, but one that was gained by a bike shop. Even the electric bikes used for bicycle tours are charged and it still maintains their net-zero energy status.
The group in attendance enjoyed the following video and asked that it be shared in it’s full length.
Future luncheons will be held at the Las Vegas Cyclery, as they become our event space sponsor. We thank them for their generosity and for allowing our members to use their space, and get to know more about their services.
Values Increase Your Net Worth
When building the Las Vegas Cyclery building, Jared Fisher wanted to ensure that his values were maintained. This included ensuring that he not only maintained a net-zero energy building, but made sure to consider his employees, customers and planet at every turn.
He knew the long term gains would outweigh any short term costs. By sticking firmly to his values for the environment, he created a building with a worth higher than the initial construction costs. Not only had his dream become realized, but his cost for doing so was decreased, allowing him to expand and succeed.
One point made clear was that Jared and the Las Vegas Cyclery not only invite visitors, but encourage a dialogue. With each inquiry Jared and his team are able to spread the inspiration, igniting people’s desire to take the next step. After all, if a bike shop in Las Vegas, Nevada can be a benchmark for efficiency, anyone can.
