Youth Garden Series: Rooting for Plants

Learn, explore and discover in Springs Preserve’s educational series for home-educated students. Science, technology, engineering, art and math will come alive in the Botanical Garden at the Springs Preserve during these 3-week units. Students will dig deeper into the monthly topic offered, going beyond the conventional garden class. Our expert staff will guide students on a journey to understand how the natural world with hands-on experiments and garden-based activities.
November 2, 9, 16: Rooting for Plants
Session for children ages 6-8 (10 a.m. to noon)
Session for children ages 9-12 (1 to 3 p.m.)
Students will go beyond the basics of botany and photosynthesis to the many ways plants attract pollinators. We will also learn about creating a companion planting, using plants as dyes as well as botanical illustration techniques.
