Committee on Energy Choice Mtg

April 4, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

On Nov 8, 2016, the voters of the State of Nevada approved Ballot Question 3 – Energy Choice Initiative. It would amend State policy that “electricity markets be open and competitive, so that all electricity customers are afforded meaningful choice among different providers, and the economic and regulatory burdens be minimized in order to promote competition and choices in the electric energy market.”

On Feb 9, 2017, Gov Brian Sandoval signed Executive Order 2017-03 establishing the membership, chairmanship, mission, timeline and issues to address on the Governor’s Committee on Energy Choice. The committee’s mission is to identify a legal, policy and procedural issues that need to be resolved, and to offer suggestions and proposals for legislative, regulatory, and executive actions that need to be taken for the effective and efficient implementation of The Energy Choice Initiative.

The Governor Committee on Energy Choice has begun having meetings. These open public meetings are not receiving renewable energy supporters attending a meeting, testifying or offering renewable energy direction. They are being attended by representatives who have cheap fossil fuel, coal and nuclear options for consideration. We need progressives to join the technical committees, so we have a voice at the policy level.

Please feel free to contact these orgs for any questions, and they can help prepare a concise statement for any of the committees:
